On the east coast of India lies a biodiversity hotspot, the Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary. Spread over 23,000 hectares, it is the second largest stretch of mangrove forests in India with 24 mangrove tree species and more than 120 bird species.
Since 2011, UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India has worked in the East Godavari River Estuarine Ecosystem to integrate environmental management into major production activities that impact coastal biodiversity.
