First UN Volunteer with Disabilities from India

Meet Rupmani Cheri from India, she is the first UN Volunteer with disabilities. The volunteer has been assigned from India to serve in Ukraine as UN Volunteer Specialist for overcoming the stigmatisation of persons with disabilities.

This deployment is a step towards ensuring that persons with disabilities fulfil their potential with dignity and equality, while also being yet another example of South-South cooperation through volunteerism.
